Rejoice! After a 12-year hiatus, renewed plans are underway to build a worship chapel at Bethany. At its meeting of March 11, 2014, Congregation Council unanimously approved the recommendations of the Facilities Ministry Team to: (a) approve the construction of a Bethany Chapel by combining and repurposing adjoining interior space, (b) retain the firm of Eidos Architects to design and oversee the build process, and (c) provide direction to the Development Team regarding fundraising in the estimated amount of $200,000. The plan anticipates completing construction before the end of 2014. UPDATE: The Bethany Chapel was officially consecrated for as a holy space on Sunday, February 1, 2015. Thanks be to God!
The Chapel is a much needed and long anticipated addition to our worship and spiritual spaces at Bethany. Funding opportunities are still available. Please contact Joel Halvorson at Joel@bethany-denver.org or check online for ways to contribute. Download an Order Form HERE today!
Bethany Chapel – a Grand “Grand Opening”
Good news! Congregation Council anticipates the construction of the Bethany Chapel to be complete by the end of January. With that in mind, our 2014 representatives to the Ministry Council for Worship and Celebration, Lindsey Aquilina and Garth Englund III, have focused on preparations for the dedication of this new holy space within Bethany’s facility.
While specific plans are yet to be finalized, current Ministry Council thinking is to consecrate the Bethany Chapel with several different types of worship expressions over a two-week period, beginning Monday, February 2 and running through Friday, February 13. Prayer sessions – such as Morning Prayer/Matins, Evening Prayer/Vespers, Night Prayer/ Compline, Holden Evening Prayer, Taize, and the like – will be offered at different times of the day, scattered across the two-week consecration period.
Thank you all for your support of this holy space.
