Metro Caring (www.metrocaring.org) is one of the main Denver Metro Food Banks Bethany supports.
How to get food (some details from the folks at Metro Caring):
- There are two ways to get food from Metro Caring. One way is to be a walk-in. When we open our doors at 9:30am Monday through Friday, and 6pm on Tuesday evenings, we give out 20-25 numbers. People will line up to get these numbers anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half before we open. The other way is to schedule an appointment. Appointments are scheduled every 10 minutes from 10:40am until 2:00pm. We generally schedule 3 days into the future – so on Mondays, we only scheduled through Thursday. On Tuesdays, we will make appointments for Friday. The phone lines also open at 9:30am so he can begin to call at that time. We are having some issues with our phone system and it sometimes drops calls – so tell him to just hang up and dial again. The number is 303-860-7200.
- Metro Caring has no restrictions on getting food – all are welcome. We will simply need ID for everyone in the household and a piece of mail that has been dated in the last 30 days. The latter is primarily for Denver County residents. If one can prove that they are a Denver County resident with a recent piece of mail, then they are entitled to TFAP (Temporary Food Assistance Program) food. Even if you are are not Denver County resident or are and don’t have a piece of mail, you will still get PLENTY of food!
