BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH FOUNDATION
The Bethany Lutheran Church Foundation was established by the congregation for those who wish to contribute to a “permanent remembrance.” It has been organized as a separate nonprofit corporation and its finances are segregated from all other church finances. It is administered by its own governing committee; the Bethany Foundation Board of Directors.
The Bethany Lutheran Church Foundation receives gifts through bequests in wills, charitable remainder and other trusts, memorial gifts, and other gifts from individuals or organizations. For information on how you can contribute a legacy fund, endowment or gift to the foundation, please contact an officer of the Foundation or Joel Halverson in the church office.
The purpose of the Bethany Lutheran Church Foundation is to enhance the ministry and spiritual development of the congregation of Bethany Lutheran Church. It does this by providing additional stewardship opportunities and by funding worthy efforts that are additional to and separate from the general operation of Bethany Lutheran Church. Expenditures of the Foundation are for projects or undertakings that would seem likely to enrich, or uplift in some special way, the spiritual life of the Bethany Lutheran Church congregation.
Members of the Bethany Lutheran Church Foundation Board are elected by the Bethany congregation. They serve three-year terms, and each year three new members of the congregation join the board as three members are ending their terms. The Board members bring a variety of talents and backgrounds, and utilize their spiritual gifts of discernment, administration, and stewardship.
The Bethany Foundation Board meets at Bethany Lutheran Church every other month beginning in January of each year, and for special meetings as necessary.

SEMINARY SCHOLARSHIPS: On the recommendation of the Senior Pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church and receipt of a Foundation Seminary Scholarship Application, a scholarship may be awarded by the Foundation for up to $3,250 for continuation of your seminary studies. The application can be found under the FORMS tab.
OTHER REQUESTS FOR FUNDING: In some years the Foundation is able to consider requests for funding worthy causes, separate from the scholarships rewarded each year. Requests for funding by the Bethany Foundation can be initiated by completing the Grant Request form.
The Foundation’s charter and policies provide that grants may be considered for projects or undertakings that would seem likely to enrich, or uplift in some special way, the spiritual life of the Bethany Lutheran Church congregation, that would provide some worthy addition or improvement to the facilities of Bethany Lutheran Church that seem beyond achievement through other channels; or that would give needed assistance or support to a worthy individual, family or Christian enterprise. In the case of grant requests for individuals or families the request to the Foundation must be made by the Senior Pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church. If grant money is available the Foundation will give priority to specific grant requests from individuals and entities such as Bethany’s pastors, Bethany’s Church Council, Bethany’s youth programs, or Lutheran or Christian programs to alleviate poverty. It will also give priority to grants which further Lutheran and Christian leadership development in individuals and for passing on the Lutheran faith.
Please note that grant applications may be submitted at any time, but will only be considered for awards at the November regular meeting of the Foundation Board. The deadline for submission of grant applications is October 15th.
