While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my book of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. (Matthew 26:26-28)
It’s a Meal for ALL!
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is part of our weekly worship at Bethany. In addition to the preached Word, and the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, our Lord’s Supper is central to our theology and worship life. On Christmas Eve we launched our new gluten free and alcohol free communion station. Jesus said, ‘This is my body, do this in remembrance of me. This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people.’
Yet, a number of people haven’t been able to come to the table; those members who have dietary or health related restrictions around bread or wine. The addition of this communion station will allow each of us to participate fully in the Eucharist. To receive from this station, please come to the central aisle and look for the server with the pottery tray. We are all members of the body of Christ. This is the Body of Christ, given for you. Come and eat!
